Gary Johnson, well known for his wildlife and landscape paintings of the natural world, won the Grand Prize Gold Medal Arts For The Parks Mini Top 100 Competition in 2005.
Winning this “crowning jewel” of representational art brought Gary’s artwork into the spotlight within the art world. Earning a Master of Arts degree in from UCLA, Gary has merged his academic training with his creative explorations in technique and materials.
Gary has exhibited and won awards at major wildlife art and western art shows throughout the country. He has been selected as the Artist In Residence for the Rocky Mountain National Park (2005) and Mesa Verde National Park (2012).
His artwork is part of the collections at the Bennington Center for the Arts, the Museum of Western Art and the San Diego Natural History Museum. His artwork has been auctioned by Sothebys of London, the C.M. Russell Museum, the Richard Schmid Auction, and the Auction in Santa Fe.
